PUBLIC CONSULTATION
The proposed development of a 21MW (AC) solar park at Blucher could result in a range of economic, energy and environmental benefits. These are summarised below.
Environmental Impacts

Generate 21MW (AC) of renewable energy

Generate enough energy to power around 8,800 homes per year, equivalent to 7% of all homes located in administrative area of Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Reducing and offsetting climate change impacts

Helping to support the transition to a low carbon future in the UK

Save around 4,900 tonnes of CO2 per annum, the equivalent to taking around 2,730 cars off the road

Upgrades to the public footpath network in the area
Construction Impacts

Creating around 65 direct construction Full Time Equivalent (FTE) jobs during the peak of the construction period

Delivering around £5.9m of Gross Value Added (GVA) (economic output) throughout the peak of the construction period
Fiscal Impacts

Providing a boost to Local Authority revenues. Once complete, the proposed development could generate an uplift in business rates payments of £25,000 per annum
